Vitamin B acts as a cofactor of enzymes in the mitochondria and is involved in important metabolic reactions. A deficiency of vitamin B - caused for example by an insufficient intake or malabsorption (failure of absorption) - leads to failure of erythropoiesis (formation of red blood cells / blood). The parenteral administration of vitamin B has, however, not only in pernicious anemia, the classic B-proven deficiency disease, but also the polyneuropathy, mental disordersand heart disease.
